Quilt Gift Card designer and writer Sue Carmichael says calmly, "I needed one and there wasn't anything like it on the market," when asked how she came up with the idea for her line of greeting cards made especially for quilters to include with a gift quilt.
Each of the six different card styles; wedding, baby, birthday, graduation, Christmas and a blank one has "The Anatomy of a Quilt"? printed on the inside cover which gives a synopsis of the quilt making process, defines some of the terms quilters use and gives the care instructions.
Each card can be personalized on the front with a piece of fabric from the gift quilt or with a picture of the quilt itself.
Sue explains, "My passion is quilting and I want the quilts I make to be used, not piled in a dark cupboard so the sun can't fade them.
I certainly don't need another quilt for myself, so I give them away as gifts.
I realized I wasn't telling the recipients how to care for the present I chose to put so much time and money into.
The solution was to write what I have titled ?The Anatomy of a Quilt'?.
I see my quilts as love filled works of art.
The down side of giving a quilt away is you never know if it will receive the respect it deserves or end up being used in a dog bed.
My hope is the cards will put an end to that fear for me as well as all other quilters."
Sue works at Patricias' Fabric House in East Rochester, NY, plus she has her own sewing studio where she makes quilts for herself and others.
Her specialty is t-shirt quilts.
She tells, "It's a creative process planning the color and shape layout of the t-shirt emblems in order to turn them into an eye-pleasing mosaic of personal memories.
It is very rewarding to see anywhere from 16 to 35 t-shirts become a snuggly quilt.
I have made them as high school graduation gifts and also as memorials.
The memorials are most special as they are a true aid in the grieving process for the person who commissions them." Lots of quilters have closets full of 100% cotton fabric they just had to have because they liked it.
Sue has very little fabric in her "stash" because when she buys it she uses it.
She says fabric "talks" to her begging to be used in a new project.
The quilts she gives away are ones she makes because there is always some quilt design she hasn't tried yet, therefore the recipient gets no say as to color or pattern.
"Of course if it's a commission piece, we discuss the options and the purchaser is the boss," she remarks.
Patti Carey, marketing coordinator for Northcott Fabrics says, "People just don't make quilts for themselves; they may keep one, but the rest are quilts they're giving to people."
Sue adds, "why not accompany the quilt with an educational gift card you can personalize so it looks like you made that as well."For more information visit www.quiltcardsetc.com ..

How to Get Started Writing Articles for the Internet
Writing articles for the Internet is one of the best ways to promote your practice or products and it doesn't cost a thing!HOW DO YOU GET STARTED?The most popular articles are "how to" articles, but you can also think "topical." People who produce websites and ezines are always looking for articles relating to Valentine's Day, for instance, or tax time, or spring! If my dentist can put out a brochure promoting teeth cleaning for a Christmas present, and also as a "back-to-school special," I bet you can think of something! Then you need to research web sites where you can submit your articles. You won't get paid for writing, but people who use your articles have to keep the byline intact, and this is where you can tell about what it is you have to offer. You can start with this site, www.digital-women.com. Another site is www.ideamarketers.com, where articles on all sorts of topics are welcome -- self help, empowerment, web design, Internet marketing, management, family, holidays, Christian...

Choosing Your Wedding Colors
Wedding dress, flowers, church, reception, cake topper, decorations, music AND wedding colors. Although it sounds daunting, choosing wedding colors is really quite simple. When choosing your wedding colors think about the different colors that you like most. You may want to choose a main color and one or two accent colors for visual beauty. If you really don't have a favorite color, think about the season that you're getting married in. If you're planning a spring or summer wedding go with pastels and brighter colors.
For winter ceremonies try darker purples and burgundies. You can also use red and silver for a more Christmas themed wedding. For a fall wedding, oranges, yellows and even reds can give a warm harvest feel. One thing to remember when choosing your wedding colors is not to overdue black. Although it is perfectly acceptable and popular to incorporate black into the wedding, over using it can give the feel of a funeral rather than a union of two hearts.Once you have chosen...

Helping your pets cope with the stress caused by loud noise.
Which is the noisiest species of all? Nope, not the lions, or the elephants, or the geese? it's us, humans. Our voices were not enough, we started making music and creating musical instruments to help us being louder. This Holiday season will not only be noisy, this year we're starting earlier because this year we have Election Day! Where I'm from, we go to the streets and make loud noises with our car horns after the results are official and we know our party won, maybe you're so excited because you know your candidate is going to win, that you are already prepared with everything to celebrate your triumph the noisiest way, but have you thought about how that noise affects your pet? Pets don't understand what is happening, even if you dress them with a patriotic costume. They don't know this are "happy" noises, they just perceive them as a sign of danger. They get nervous, afraid, and if they feel they're exposed they will try as hard as they can to look for a hideout, sometimes this...
